Katja Mruk Katja Mruk (Coordinator of the Erasmus Placements programmes):
Why is it important to have a special intercultural preparation?

Collette W. Döppner (Online Trainer):
An intercultural training prepares you to meet and deal successfully with people from cultures that are different from yours. Among other things, one learns what ‘Culture’ is (and what it isn’t), what the differences between or similarities in the cultures are, what conflicts there are between the cultures and how one can deal with them. One also learns how to deal with stereotypes and prejudices.

Katja Mruk:
What are the most important aspects of the practical preparation course?

Collette W. Döppner:
The courses are ‘practice-oriented’ as they orient themselves to key situations abroad and are supported by different forms of multimedia. All modules are moderated by myself or my colleagues and can be done flexibly- one needs 2-3 hours per week for each module. The participants work in a virtual classroom and work on the tasks often together with other participants. After successfully completing the course the participants receive a certificate.
